The average hiking speed is 2 km per hour. This tour will take about 2,5 hours.
Drive to the uppermost road in Eiði village and park your car just above the recreational centre. Start hiking and return to the same place.
Eiðiskollur is a semi-island in the northern most part of “Eysturoy” island and it guards the old village of “Eiði” against the high tidal winds.
The view from the mountain peak is known to the locals as “Kollinum” and is uniquely beautiful. Open ocean is to east and to the west can be seen the northern most peaks on the other islands. Also, the view offers a direct view down onto two ocean peaks, which are known to the locals as the famous historical “Risan og Kellingina”.
The Mountain Peak of “Kollurin” er special when it comes to the impressive growth of grass / fauna. This is due to the fact that unlike other parts of the Faroe Islands there are no grassing sheep present here.
Many type of birds make this their home. Among them is the sea parrot, crow, raven, wild geese and many others.
