Great Skua
Is most aggressive when the eggs are hatching in the latter half of July. He will dive towards those who come to close, and will even strike you with his feet. It can be scary but it is not dangerous. The best you can do is to walk on and clear the area where the nests or the chicks are as soon as possible. The Great Skua nests are in boggy terrain and it is best to avoid this type of terrain to stay clear of their nesting sites. And keep in mind that the parents are only doing what we would all would do to protect our offspring!
