Skúgvur:
It is especially in the late of july when the season for bird hatching gets close that the skúgvur(the bird) becomes aggressive. The bird will fly and dive down onto anyone, who approaches too close, and can even strike people with their legs. This might seem frightning but it is not dangerous. It is best to stay on course and avoid the nests and the brid hatchlings as fast as possible. Skúgvur(the bird) almost always nest in wetland areas, so if you want to avoid the skúgvur bird thugs, then it is recommed that you stay away from the wetlands. And keep in the mind that the bird parents are only doing what we ourselves would do to protect our offpspring!
Please ask for information, at the local tourist information before hiking in the mountains.
