Take the ferry, Sam, from Klaksvík to Syðradalur. The ferry ride takes about 20 minutes. Once you arrive in Syðradalur village, start walking uphill. After hiking up to Slættafjall mountain, you can walk down to the village of Knútsdalur. You do not need to bring a car for this hike.
(The valley is called Knútsdalur, named after one Knút, who was caretaker for Thrand in Gøtu, chieftain of the Northern Isles, including Kalsoy. Knút was allowed to put his sheep to pasture in this valley, hence the name.)
